However, this guide will explain the error in detail, along with all its possible solutions individually.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-the-permission-denied-error\">What is the Permission Denied Error?<\/h2>\n<p>Every file and folder inside the Linux File System has a \u201cpermission\u201d given to each user using that Linux machine. These permissions determine whether that user can have access to the file or not.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three different permissions that can be given to each file in the Linux File System, which are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><b>Read<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d represented by \u201c<\/span><b>r<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d means that the file can only be read, and no changes can be made to the file or directory.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><b>Write<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d represented by \u201c<\/span><b>w<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d which means that changes can be made and saved to the file.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><b>Executable<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d which is represented by \u201c<\/span><b>x<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d means that the file can be executed. For example, if the user has been given only read access to a file and tries to make certain changes, the user will get the \u201cPermission Denied\u201d error.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly, if the user has no authority over a file and tries to move it from one location to another, he will encounter the permission denied error.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-solve-permission-denied-errors-in-linux\"><span style=\"color: #ff2600;\">How to Solve Permission-Denied Errors in Linux?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Various methods and approaches exist to solve the permission-denial error in the Linux File System. Let\u2019s go over all of them one by one.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"use-root-privileges-to-resolve-permission-denied-error\">Use Root Privileges to Resolve Permission Denied Error<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are the System Administrator of the Linux Machine, you have the root access. Therefore, always proceed with caution when working with admin rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"provide-correct-permissions-for-the-file\">Provide Correct Permissions for the File<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are not working with system files and a non-admin user encounters the permission denied error while working with a specific file.
